Why I became a celebrant

As I began to walk down the aisle on my wedding day, I was reminded just how important the person waiting at the end of the alter was… and I’m not just talking about my husband (sorry Mike). A wedding celebrant is trusted with the special responsibility of creating a brand new chapter with the love of your life.

Originally from Brisbane, I now call the inner west of Sydney home in a tiny terrace house with my wonderful husband Mike and our giant rescue greyhound Prince Harry.

I’m a fully inclusive celebrant. I welcome and celebrate couples all of orientations and identities. I’ve marched and danced in the Sydney Mardi Gras parade several times and embrace everyone being their authentic selves.

Love is love!

Before celebrancy, I was a TV News reporter in Perth and Brisbane for years which means I am used to thinking on my feet and performing live. Whatever happens on the day, I can handle it! When I am not marrying my amazing couples, I am lucky enough to spend my days writing and editing compelling stories. I bring these skills to your ceremony creation and I can also help you draft your vows if you like. All of my couples have said I have a calming energy which has helped them with nerves so they can just enjoy the moment.

I want to help my couples have the best day of their lives. It should be filled with love, momentous energy and be enjoyable, not stressful. I will make sure your ceremony is authentic and convey the vibe you want for the day. Whether you want something modern, simple, quirky or traditional - I have you covered. I know just how much is involved in the lead-up to your big day, and how important the details are in making your wedding come to fruition.

If my couples need me to step in and become the organiser and bring everyone together, I'm there. When it comes to the kiss you won't find me in that photo either! I can anticipate issues before they even happen and get them sorted without you even noticing. I will go the extra mile for you – I even gave my jazzy reception sneakers to a bride with epic blisters to wear instead!

Don't make your guests sit through another boring ceremony. My aim is to deliver a unique ceremony full of love, ensuring that you and your guests are relaxed from the very first moment. We can always include your loved ones, pets and little ones - whatever you like, it’s your day.

With years of professional voice and presentation training, I’ve been an MC for many events and weddings. So, I can MC your reception like a boss too if you like! I love a run sheet and will make sure your speeches have bang-on intros and keep time so the dancefloor can get going!
